Award-Winning Project: Designed with Fittings
Architectural Justice’s Gold Award-winning lower-level remodel showcases Fittings Metal Collection across five distinct applications.
Great design is in the details—and sometimes, those details are what bring an entire space together. In Richfield, Ohio, a sophisticated lower-level remodel designed by Architectural Justice earned Gold for Best Specialty Project in the 2026 Kitchen & Bath Design Awards, presented by Kitchen & Bath Design News. Created as a destination for entertaining, the space combines dramatic materials, rich finishes, and thoughtfully integrated design elements.
Throughout the project, Fittings Metal Collection contributes architectural detail and function across the wine display, statement bar, billiard area, and bathroom. Five distinct applications demonstrate how Fittings can work throughout a space, with each element serving a purpose while contributing to the overall design.
Five Applications. One Cohesive Design.
Wine Wall: A Statement for the Collection
The wine wall brings the homeowners’ collection into the architecture of the room, creating a striking focal point within the entertaining space. Its strong lines and metal framework give the display a defined presence while allowing the bottles themselves to become part of the visual experience.
Rather than treating wine storage as an afterthought, the design integrates it into the room’s overall composition.

Bar Foot Rail: The Finishing Detail
At the statement bar, the Fittings foot rail adds a functional element that also helps define the bar’s architectural character.
Foot rails are a small detail with a meaningful role in bar design. They provide comfort for guests while introducing another layer of material and finish at the base of the bar. In this space, the rail complements the surrounding cabinetry and metal accents, contributing to a cohesive, considered result.
Bar Shelf Corbels: Support with Architectural Presence
Above the bar, Fittings corbels provide support for the shelving while adding structure and dimension to the design.
Supporting elements do not have to disappear into the background. When thoughtfully selected, corbels can contribute to the visual identity of a bar, balancing the shelving with the surrounding finishes and reinforcing the space’s architectural language.

Raised Counter Support: A New Application
In the billiard area, a modified Fittings Raised Counter Support takes on a different role as a drink rail.
This application demonstrates how a component can be adapted to meet the needs of a particular space. Positioned alongside the billiard area, the drink rail provides a convenient place for refreshments while maintaining a visual connection to the surrounding entertaining spaces.
It is an example of approaching product selection with the overall design in mind—considering not only where a component is typically used, but where else it might bring value.

Solo Legs: Architectural Detail in the Bath
The Fittings Solo Legs carry the metal detailing into the bathroom, providing an architectural foundation for the vanity.
Their clean lines complement the vanity’s form without overwhelming it, demonstrating how a carefully selected metal element can contribute to a space well beyond the bar. Here, the same attention to proportion, finish, and detail extends into a more personal setting.
A Cohesive Approach to Architectural Metal
What makes this project compelling is not simply the presence of individual products, but how they work together across different areas of the home.
From wine storage and bar shelving to an entertaining drink rail and bathroom vanity, the applications illustrate the versatility of architectural metal in residential design. Each element serves a distinct purpose while contributing to a consistent design direction.
For designers, builders, and other trade professionals, the project offers a practical look at how Fittings components can be incorporated into entertaining spaces and beyond—including opportunities to adapt a component to suit a particular application.
