Inside the Winning Rock the Block Home Featuring Bistro Shelving
The winning home from HGTV’s Rock the Block was designed around a bold, “smoky-sexy” aesthetic—layering rich, masculine tones, vintage-inspired materials, and architectural detail to create a highly intentional, atmosphere-driven space.
Designed by Kim Wolfe and Chelsea Meissner, the home moves away from traditional white interiors and instead embraces stained wood paneling, warm metallic accents, textured wall surfaces, and canyon-inspired color palettes reminiscent of Nevada’s landscape.
Within this environment, Fittings Bistro Shelving was integrated into key spaces to support both function and architectural intent.

A Design Rooted in Mood + Materiality
Rather than relying on decorative layering, the design of the winning home focuses on built-in architectural character.
From wood paneling and grasscloth wallpaper to brass detailing and saturated ceiling tones, every surface contributes to a cohesive mood. Storage and display systems needed to feel like a natural extension of this architecture—not an addition to it.
Bistro Shelving was selected for its ability to reinforce this approach through clean structural framing and customizable configurations that complement the home’s layered material palette.

Kitchen Application: Floating Display Within a Strong Architectural Core
In the kitchen, Bistro Wall Shelving with no rear vertical was used to extend the architectural language established throughout the home.
Positioned near the stove cove and framed by windows, the shelving introduces lightness and display within a space defined by strong materials such as dark cabinetry, brass accents, and waterfall-edge stone surfaces.
The result is a balance between structure and openness—where shelving functions as both a practical storage solution and a visual continuation of the home’s design rhythm.
Bar & Poker Room Application: Defining Space Within the “Smoky-Sexy” Core
One of the most distinctive areas of the home is the reimagined den, transformed into a bar and poker room that anchors the home’s masculine, atmosphere-driven concept.
Here, Bistro Floor/Counter to Ceiling Shelving was used to define and separate the poker room while maintaining a visual connection to the adjoining great room.
The architectural metal framework functions as both a bar feature and spatial divider, integrating display shelving and stemware storage into a layered, immersive environment.
Rather than acting as a standalone storage system, the shelving becomes part of the room’s architectural composition—supporting the home’s emphasis on mood, material contrast, and intentional visual framing.

Designed for Architectural Integration
Every Fittings shelving system is designed to integrate into highly intentional interior environments. Bistro Shelving adapts to a wide range of configurations, finishes, and material combinations, allowing designers to align storage solutions with the architectural language of a space.
In projects like this one, shelving is not an accessory—it is part of the structure, helping define how a space is experienced.
